We are in quite possibly the most exciting time ever in human history. Advancing technology has created a world of prosperity that we could only previously imagine in Science Fiction. We are developing autonomous vehicles, traveling to space, have personalized computers in our pockets, and yet we look at education, and it looks the same it did decades ago.

Did you know that Scantrons were invented in 1972 and that is still the primary method of testing today? That’s almost 50 years ago. Well now the revolution has officially begun.

Alastar is here to change WHAT we teach our kids and HOW we teach our kids. We are introducing students to new topics in school, by teaching how those topics apply directly to them. No longer should students live in an abstract world, but rather learn important subjects through the things that interest them. We focus on the WHY something happens. Not just giving students an instruction manual and telling them to follow and copy.

We want to create a world of thinkers, one where students can adopt and evolve with our growing technology, not just get lost by a computer. We are starting by developing a math curriculum first because math is a part of everything in life and yet nationally it is one of our worst subjects. Only 1 out of every 3 students is considered proficient in math and in low income areas, 1 out of 20—that’s unacceptable, and we are working on fixing that.

We have 4 main goals with our math program:

  1. Every student progresses, with 90% or higher in each math lesson.

  2. Learning rate of students increases by 1 full grade level.

  3. Teachers are able to help the students who need it the most.

  4. Higher enjoyment creates more engagement in mathematics.

Our math curriculum is a video game that allows students to go on a journey through worlds, learn math through games and interests, and it brings back the fun in learning. We are so excited for what the future has to hold in education, and we are just trying to do our part in giving EVERYONE the ability to succeed.
